Gym Management Software in Mumbai

Mumbai's gyms are densest in Andheri, Lokhandwala, Borivali and Malad, and magicpin's September 2026 guide puts monthly fees between ₹1,500 at budget centres and ₹6,000-plus at premium chains. MyGymDesk runs Mumbai gyms' members, GST invoices from a Maharashtra (27) GSTIN, UPI renewals, WhatsApp reminders and biometric attendance.

Mumbai is India's financial capital — home to the RBI, the BSE, the NSE and SEBI, with Nariman Point and Bandra Kurla Complex as its business districts — and its gym listings are on the same scale: Justdial shows more than 8,440 gyms in the city, 2,120 of them tagged for women and 123 open round the clock. Thane and Navi Mumbai have their own guide.

Mumbai's fees, from suburb gym to premium chain

magicpin's 1 September 2026 guide gives ₹1,500 a month at budget centres, ₹2,500–₹4,000 mid-range and ₹6,000-plus at premium chains, with its own estimates of ₹2,800–₹4,500 for Anytime Fitness and ₹3,500–₹6,000 for Fitness First. medifee's gym-by-gym listings run from about ₹1,700 to ₹6,990 a month and ₹10,000 to ₹35,750 a year, including a ladies-only gym at ₹1,955 a month.

Numbeo's average, drawn from 241 contributors, is about ₹2,542 a month; Expatistan's figure for a business-district gym is nearly twice that, ₹4,836. The gap is the Mumbai story in one line: the same membership costs very different amounts in a suburb and in a business district. Numbeo averages the whole city; Expatistan prices the business district.

Gym counts by suburb

medifee's listings put the western suburbs far ahead: Andheri with 89 gyms, Lokhandwala 62, Borivali 58 and Malad 52, then Bandra 46, Dadar 42 and Chembur 36. The formats are as broad as anywhere in India — boutique HIIT, yoga and boxing classes, CrossFit boxes, 24/7 gyms, Pilates reformer studios and hot yoga all appear in magicpin's guide.

Reformer and hot-yoga rooms have small capacities, so every spot is revenue. Class scheduling caps each session, and lets members book and cancel from the app instead of messaging the front desk.

BMC's health licence checklist

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation issues Health Licences under sections 394 and 412 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, and its checklist asks for a Shop and Establishment certificate, fire compliance and a police NOC — so in Mumbai the shops-act paperwork comes first. The section 394 trade schedule doesn't list gyms by name, so confirm with your ward office which licence applies to your premises.

The shops law is the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017: ten or more workers means registration, fewer means an intimation.

GST on a ₹35,750 year

Maharashtra GSTINs start with 27, and each Mumbai membership invoice carries 2.5% CGST and 2.5% Maharashtra SGST. The amounts get large at the top of the market: on the ₹35,750 annual fee at the high end of medifee's list, billed exclusive of tax, the invoice adds ₹893.75 of each, ₹1,787.50 in all. MyGymDesk prints that on the invoice with your GSTIN and SAC 999723, and the GST report lists the place of supply as 27-Maharashtra for filing.

Branches in Thane, Navi Mumbai or Pune sit in the same state, so they can share your registration while each keeps its own invoice series — see billing and invoicing.

Worked GST example for a gym membership in Mumbai
Monthly membership, before GST₹2,500
CGST at 2.5%₹62.50
SGST at 2.5%₹62.50
Member pays₹2,625

If ₹2,500 is your GST-inclusive price instead, ₹119.05 of it is GST at 5%.

Gym, fitness centre and yoga services: 5% GST without input tax credit, from 22 Sep 2025. Products sold by gyms carry their own HSN-based rates.

Four big languages

Mumbai's 2011 census gave Marathi as the first language of 35% of residents, Hindi of 25%, Urdu of 12% and Gujarati of 11%. MyGymDesk's app and automated messages are in English. A quarter of the city reads Hindi first, and a gym on its own WhatsApp number can reach them with approved Hindi templates (WhatsApp marketing). The AI business assistant answers owners in English, Hindi or Hinglish.
